"What's money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do." Bob Dylan
Before you can become successful in any endevour you must define exactly what 'success' really means to you.
------------------------------------------
Wiktionary defines success this way:
Noun
success (plural successes)
the achievement of one's aim or goal. (His third attempt to pass the entrance exam was a success.)
(Business) financial profitability.
a person who achieves his or her goals. (Scholastically, he was a success.)
------------------------------------------
How can you Achieve Success if you don't know what it means to you? Everyone has a different idea of what success is based on their personal and life experience to that point in time in their life.
To some people Money means success, to others Love and Family mean success. Some define success by their accomplishments or by the legacy they leave behind, others by their personal health.
Who is more successful- Mother Teresa or Bill Gates? The answer depends on your perspective in the present moment.
I know a man who is a Barber.
George is a simple man who has a small one room barber shop. He cuts hair for $8 to $10 a sitting. He's been doing this for twenty years. Is he successful?
If you ask him he will gladly tell you he is the most successful and lucky guy in the world.
How can that be? Well, George would tell you that he has a beautiful wife who is a great cook and he will point to an old opera poster on the wall and beam with pride as he talks about his son and daughter who are starring in local high school musicals. "My daughter is going to college!" He says with his face beaming with genuine pride. George never got to go to college.
George owns his own house, has a loving family and he managed to help his kids to college- all by cutting hair one head at a time for $8 -10 a clip job. For George- life is good.
In contrast- I meet a man with a net worth of millions. He has cars, houses and all the toys money can buy. He can travel anywhere and do pretty much as he pleases. Because he has lawyers too- I'll just call him John. Is he a success?
John lives a miserable life. He has no real friends. His girl friend is only interested in his money- and he has commented that she would leave him in a heartbeat if he had no money. After he acquired his money his family began to suck up to him. He sees that he has no real love in his life- and that is something no amount of money can buy. He goes through life wasting his personal energy by having to constantly watch his back and guard his material treasure. He lives in a world of superficial users in both his personal and business life.
TIP: Before you can start on a journey toward success you must define what success means to you and decide on a path to take towards that success. There are many paths and many ways to acheive success.
Take the first step. Define your idea of what success means in relation to YOUR life.
